DAY SERVICES
Statement of Philosophy, Purpose and Objectives
Purpose
To provide support for individuals experiencing mental health distress
and the relatives or friends caring for them.
Objectives
- To provide drop-in facilities which are available on a daily basis,
including evenings, weekends and bank holidays when other services are
not so readily available.
- To support individuals through periods of crisis in their lives.
- To provide a range of activities and opportunities designed to promote
personal growth, improve self confidence and self worth and help service
users to take greater control over their lives.
- To promote the integration of service users within the wider community
by encouraging the use of local educational and training facilities,
supporting efforts to re-enter the job market and encouraging the use
of community social and recreational facilities.
Philosophy
The provision of our day services is based on the following principles.
- Access to our day services is open to all individuals, regardless
of differences of race, gender etc. (as set out in our Equal Opportunities
Policy), who have a valid mental health need and to those relatives
or friends who are caring for them.
- We aim to provide a sympathetic and caring environment where individuals
experiencing mental distress and their carers can be confident of finding
acceptance and support.
- The services we provide are determined by the needs of our service
users.
- Service users themselves determine which activities they participate
in, as well as the duration and frequency of their attendance.
- Service users are encouraged to play an active part in planning and
delivering our services, as well as monitoring their continuing relevance
and quality.
