Aims and Objectives

MIND's primary aims and activities can be summarised as:

  • To uphold the rights and represent the interests of service members, their families and mental health workers.
  • To improve public knowledge of mental health and to combat the stigma, fear and prejudice which still surrounds the term 'mental illness'.
  • To campaign for improved standards and forms of mental health-care, support and treatment.
  • To encourage and demonstrate good practice in the development of local mental health services.
  • To provide a legal casework service to service members and their families and to monitor and influence legislation and policy.
  • To collect and distribute information, to sponsor research, to issue publications and provide advice.
  • To provide a programme of education and training for mental health workers, volunteers, service members and members of the public.
  • To raise funds for the work of MIND.
