Face the world!

We are excited to announce we are working with Shoebox Theatre for our new Drama Group, which will supporting the mental health of neurodiverse individuals.

Face the World will take place over the course of 16 weeks and be held at our fantastic Safe Haven Café in Tamworth.

Throughout these 16 weeks, the project will be aiming to provide participants with the opportunity to improve their wellbeing, self-esteem and help some of the most vulnerable members of our community to make new friends and interests.

The project will culminate in a show designed and developed by participants, allowing them to express themselves creatively.

We are so excited to be working with the wonderful team over at Shoebox Theatre for this project. They are led by well-renowned actor Margaret Manuell, who will be providing the expertise in participatory performance! With Shoebox’s track record in delivering successful workshops in Tamworth, we think this will be wonderful for our participants.

On top of the drama sessions, we will providing a holistic mental health facilitator who will demonstrate wellness techniques and be Mental Health First Aiders when needed.

This group comes after our recent neurodivergence and mental health steering group concluded that we need more support for people with both mental health problems and traits associated with Autism, ADHD, and Dyspraxia.

We have also used the feedback from our recent ‘Help us to help you’ survey, which determined that people in Tamworth had needs around:

• Friendships

• Improving confidence

• Managing Stress

  
  

This is set to start later in the year, and when we have more information about that, we shall post it all across our social media!

We need your help to get it started, and last week we began our crowdfunding campaign!

Right now, we are at 42% of the funds needed for this project to be operate to the capacity we are planning to ensure to participants get the most possible out of it.
