It’s Local Mind Week – a time to celebrate, reflect, and support the incredible work done by local Minds across the country. Here at Burton & District Mind, we’re proud to be at the forefront of ensuring our community has access to the high-quality mental health support that it deserves.

What is Local Mind Week?
Local Mind Week shines a spotlight on the incredible work of the 100s of local Mind charities operating across England and Wales.
Whilst each of these local Minds is a part of the Mind family, we are all independent charities dedicated to providing mental health services to our communities.
Every year, local Minds are supporting more and more people with their mental health. The latest data shows that over 660,000 people have been supported by a local Mind over the past year.
The past year has been very exciting for us at Burton & District Mind and has seen us reach many achievements towards supporting the mental health of people across Burton, Tamworth, Lichfield and Burntwood.
Here are just a few…
The success of our Bat and Cricket Project has been recognised by Mind and featured in a segment on BBC News.

Project support Coordinator Emma Godfrey said
“We are all incredibly honoured to have been involved in this initiative and for our wonderful Bat & Chat Cricket project to be recognised and replicated in this way. It has had an incredible impact on the lives of the people who have been a part of it since it was first designed and delivered back in 2023, and we look forward to seeing it help so many more people across the country with their mental health & wellbeing.”
The project was generously funded by Toyota Manufacturing UK Charitable Trust

Our Safe Haven Crisis Café moved to its new building right in the heart of Tamworth town centre.
Since the move, the service has been thriving with high numbers, positive feedback, and real impact.
It has also been visited and supported by local celebrity Spudman, who came and got involved a few months ago!
Further work towards bettering the support available for the LGBTQIA+ Community
Over the past year, we have worked with members of the LGBTQIA+ community to recognise how our projects can be more tailored towards their needs and, as such, have a more positive impact. This has been through our Expressions! And Creative Spaces projects, as well as through attending local Pride events.
Offering a wide variety of services
At Burton and District Mind, we are made up of multiple teams that each provide different services and levels of support. At Burton & District Mind, we have always expressed our goal of making sure that everyone who needs support has it. Through all of our different services and projects, we are reaching more and more people.
Here are some of the services that we have available currently…
Future Focus
Counselling
Safe Haven
Activity Projects
Peer Support Groups
And most importantly is the impact our services and projects have had on their participants…
Here is some feedback our Eco-Therapy team received during its current course…
“You always exude a kind, warm and positive energy, and it does help, especially yesterday when I was feeling low energy/mood as part of my cycle, so just as negative people repel, positive people like yourself heal, so I say thank you for being you, please don't change! (Being good, doing good or saying nice things is also a therapy in itself). Keep well and happy!” - 2025
How can you get involved?
There are so many different ways that you can get involved and show support this Local Minds Week, such as…
Spreading the word – Following us on social media as well as liking/sharing our posts helps us more than you realise. It means more and more people will see us, and the support that we have available.
Volunteering – If you think your skills and experience could assist us, volunteering truly does help us!
Donations –
As we are a charity, a lot of our funding comes from our local community and their kind donations.
Fundraising – From bake sales to sponsored walks, fundraisers make a massive difference in making sure we can continue to fund our vital services. If you have an idea, we’d love to work with you to make it happen!
Let’s continue working towards better mental health for everyone!
From all of us at Burton & District Mind, thank you so much for your continued support. Together, we are changing lives.
