Joining the service

Safe Haven is available for:

  • People with mental health problems experiencing distress and need help now.

  • Aged 16 plus (with no upper limit)

  • Living in East Staffordshire, Tamworth Borough or Lichfield District

  • People with existing support and care planning from Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and anyone else!

Funded by Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trusts, Burton and District Mind are excited to now provide a range of services for people experiencing mental health distress. Guided by dedicated Team Leaders, the Recovery Workers will provide a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environments helping individuals in their recovery through promotion of self‐empowerment and independence. The services will be relaxed, informal and supportive, considerate of risk and safety, focused on de-escalation and recovery. Where required, the team will have access to the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team for when someone presents in a mental health crisis and is a risk to themselves and/or others.

Safe Haven

A Crisis Café service, called Safe Haven, will be provided for people aged 16 plus with mental health problems living in Tamworth Borough, East Staffordshire, and Lichfield District.  It is based at:

Sacred Heart Church

Silver Link Road, Glascote Heath

Tamworth B77 2EA.

There’s free parking on site, and a bus stop right outside.

This service will be an out of hours provision open at the following times:

  • Wednesday to Friday: 5pm – 11pm

  • Saturdays: 9am to 5pm

  • Sundays: 1:30pm to 9:30pm

Participants can attend for up to 3 hours a time, benefitting from free refreshments, a listening ear, advice, peer support and ‘just a place to be’. Anyone who attends more than once will join as a Safe Haven Member, and if they are known to mental health services, we’ll let the Care Coordinator know that they have made use of the service.
