ThinkWell
Supporting anyone employed by Staffordshire County Council through counselling
Thinkwell is an Employee Assistance Programme provided to many Staffordshire County Council workers. This service can be accessed through self-referral or manager referral with the service user’s permission.

Thinkwell is a prevention and early intervention service which supports the mental health of the service user. Thinkwell offers a number of support interventions including counselling.
Up to six sessions of counselling are available following a triage appointment completed by a trained professional. Once this triage is completed service users are allocated to the most appropriate source of support for their needs.
What to expect from Thinkwell counselling
At your appointment you’ll be encouraged to talk about your feelings and emotions with a trained therapist, who’ll listen and support you without judging or criticising. The therapist can help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes and find your own solutions to your problems. They won’t give advice or tell you what to do.
You will be provided with a copy of your Thinkwell plan this document is to help support your recovery and designed to help you reflect, recognise and develop ideas and strategies to manage and maintain your mental health and wellbeing, this plan will help continue to support you after you counselling is over.
If you refer yourself to Thinkwell, the Thinkwell team will not tell your manager you are gaining support without your permission.
