Let’s talk about the Burton and District Mind Mindfulness service!
Firstly, what exactly is Mindfulness? This is a technique which can be learnt that primarily involves noticing what is going on around you in the present moment. So you’d focus on what you can feel, hear, touch etc. For example, if you were to practise Mindfulness in the woods, you’d hear the birds, feel the wind/cold air and perhaps touch the bark of a tree.
Due to this, you’d often take notice and be aware of your mind, body and surroundings.
The technique itself is rooted within Buddhism and meditation, however, that does not mean you need to be spiritual or have any beliefs to give it a go!
How exactly will Mindfulness help you?
It can help you to become more self-aware
Feeling calmer and less stressed.
If you are experiencing any difficult or unhelpful thoughts, Mindfulness could help you cope with them.
Be kinder towards yourself.
Feel more able to choose how you respond to your thoughts and feelings
Burton and District Mind provide FREE group mindfulness sessions, both in person at our Branston Road office and virtually using MS Teams. These are held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (but can change based on need!)
Our Mindfulness service has been received very positively in the past, here's some quotes from people who came to our sessions.
“Thank you so much. you have a wonderful peaceful relaxing voice."
"Feeling/acknowledging my body I didn't enjoy as much but was able to dissolve some pain to a degree."
