Pancake Day!!

Tuesday the 21st February will be Shrove Tuesday, otherwise known as Pancake Day to many. This is a festival celebrated every year, and is meant to signify the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. From all of us here at Burton and District Mind, we hope that everyone who celebrates has a good day! 🥞

At the start of this month, we had Time to Talk Day, which was all about opening a dialogue about mental health with the people around us. This is such an important thing for a number of reasons.

1) It normalises talking about mental health

2) Removes any stigmas people may have

3) Sometimes people may not feel able to say how they are truly feeling but being asked how they are could be encouraging.

4) We can educate ourselves on what exactly mental health is.

5) Everyone can learn about the different forms of support that are available.

How exactly does this link to Shrove Tuesday?

We believe this could be a fantastic opportunity to get everyone involved and do something together! So this Shrove Tuesday or the days following, why not set some time aside with the people around you, and make pancakes together?

This could then be a great opportunity to talk about how we are feeling/check in with how the people around you are doing! Then share a picture of your pancakes on social media with the hashtag #Pancakes4burtonmind. We’d love to see them!

Even if you don’t have anyone to make Pancakes with, you can still get involved too by just sharing your hashtag above.

Let’s make this a wonderful Shrove Tuesday! 🥞

If you are struggling at the moment with your mental health, please remember you are not alone. We are here for you. Please reach out to us through any of the following methods, and we will work with you to find the support best suited to your mental health.
