This year’s Remembrance Sunday will be marked on Sunday 9th November 2025, followed by Armistice Day on Tuesday 11th November 2025.

Our teams at Burton & District Mind will participate in a two-minute silence at 11am, whether we are working at one of our offices, or remotely.
This is an opportunity for us to remember the Armed Forces, both past and present, and the vital role they have in serving our country.
We also recognize that this day, can bring with it some challenges for people’s mental health…
Whether that be:
Grief remembering fallen family members or friends
Triggering the PTSD of veterans
Bringing back difficult memories
So, at Burton & District Mind, we feel this is a good time for us to talk about some of the challenges and support available to anyone who may be struggling today.
Here are some statistics published over the past year about armed forces and mental health:
1 in 8 (12.3%) UK Armed Forces personnel were seen in military healthcare for a mental health related reason in 2024-25.
1 in 52 (1.9%) UK Armed Forces personnel were seen by a specialist mental health clinician.
(Statistics taken from UK Armed Forces Mental Health Annual Report 2024-25)
It is also often reported that whilst most military personnel don’t have mental health problems during service or afterwards, however some experiences in the armed forces can lead to experiencing mental health problems such as:
Working in stressful and traumatic situations
Being away from family/friends
Injuries
For some they could have difficulties transitioning back to civilian life and can experience things like…
Relationship or family problems
Homelessness
Social isolation
It is also important to acknowledge that today may not just be difficult for those who have served, but also the family and friends who may be grieving.
However, there is help available!
Help for Heroes has more information about the mental health support available specifically directed towards veterans, or people serving within the Armed forces.
