Love Yourself ❤️

February 14th can often be a challenging day for many, it is known as Valentine’s Day; a day celebrating romantic partners. For some it may be a good day, it can be the opposite for many others. It can instead be a very lonely experience. As a result, this could negatively affect people’s mental health.

So this year, let’s make February 14th a day dedicated to celebrating and loving yourself! You are amazing, and you deserve to love yourself.

Finding ways to love yourself and celebrating who you are can be great for your self-esteem whilst giving you confidence. So what are some ways that you spend February 14th to celebrate YOU!

1) Go out and treat yourself!

There is nothing wrong with doing things by yourself, whether it’s going to the cinema, going to try a food place you really like or just anything! Maybe go out and buy some new clothes that you’ve been interested in! As long as you are going out and doing something that makes you happy.

2) Have a day to relax

Sometimes just sitting back and doing something that relaxes and distracts from the things in life that you may find difficult can be a great way to spend the day. This could be anything like reading a book, watching a show/film you really like, or even doing a puzzle!

3) Maybe spend time with friends/family

Valentine’s Day may be a day dedicated to romantic partners but that doesn’t mean you can’t spend the day showing the people around you how much they mean to you! Why not arrange a get together with some of the people in your life that matter to you? Could have a game night!

4) Be kind to yourself

In all aspects of life, it can be easy to compare yourself to people around you, which is no different here. However, it is important to remember that everyone’s life is different and there is nothing wrong with that. You may not be where you want to be in life right now but there are lots of things you have accomplished that you can be proud of!

5) Spending time outdoors.

Going outdoors and spending a day in nature could be a good way to be active, get fresh air and avoid any potential triggers that may be on places such as the internet.

These are all just a couple of options of things that may help this February 14th, but it is okay just to treat it like any other day if that is what is best for you. And that is what is important to remember.

If of course you are struggling with your mental health on this day, and need any support we at Burton and District Mind are here for you. So please come and talk to us.
