At Burton and District Mind something

we take pride in is our high-quality services. Our team is made up of highly qualified people who are fully committed to making sure that people get the best possible support for their mental health. This is why we want to take this opportunity to celebrate some of the feedback our Safe Haven service has received recently.

We are so proud of the team there!

Safe Haven is a Crisis Café which provides mental health support for people ages 16 plus. The Café covers people living in Tamworth Borough, East Staffordshire, and Lichfield District. With over 300 interactions since opening in January, the service has hit the ground running, and hopes to continue to support the community in the best way they can!

The team operates out of Sacred Heart Church, Tamworth, and consists of Claire (Team Leader), Oliver, Lisa and Charlotte (Recovery Workers)

Here is the feedback!

1

“I’d just like to say thank you to all staff at Safe Haven. I came struggling with my depression. The first night I left I already felt better, they listened and understood and I’m slowly getting back to the old me, thanks guys”

2

“I would like to thank the Staff at Safe Haven for the support today. I came in for support and really wanted someone to Listen and Help me understand how I was feeling and why? The staff really helped me and signposted me to other services, so thanks Safe Haven staff”

“I have found this service extremely welcoming and helpful. When I first attended this service I was self-harming on a regular basis, me and my family felt very disconnected. They helped me work through my feelings and gave me strategies to help keep me safe. I have since lost my mum, which was on the 28th of March 2023, the team at Safe Haven Oli, Claire, Lisa and Charlotte all helped me to understand the death of my mum, they really supported me with arranging her funeral and it was very appreciated. I am still trying to come to terms with my mum's death, I feel like this service has really helped and supported me with helping me and encouraging me to talk and open up to my family. We were quite distant as a family and I feel like we are engaging as a family now. I did have a setback recently and they really supported me to get through it. I feel like I am not judged and feel like I am being listened to. They encourage me to go to Zumba and this has really motivated me to go even if I don’t feel like it.
My mood and emotions are still all over the place, but the team at Safe Haven have been really supportive. So I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you, Claire, Oli, Lisa and Charlotte.”

“When I first came to Crisis Café, I was at the lowest point in my life, anxiety, panic attacks and saw no reason for living, and no future.
The support, understanding, and care from the team (especially Charlotte and Claire) have been amazing, along with their kindness and advice it has saved me from my darkest days and given me the strength to pick myself up and hope for a future life.
I could never thank the team enough for all they have done and continue to do for me.”

5

“I just want to start by saying thank you to each and every one of you. I came here a few months ago after suffering a breakdown. They made me feel so welcome and made the bad days feel so much easier. I am now back at work and able to do some things I never thought I could. I feel like the old me is starting to come back. Thank you again for all the support”

This feedback really makes us all here at Burton and District Mind very proud to see the positive impact that the team over at Safe Haven have managed to have on people’s lives!
